Conclusion
In conclusion the hypothesis was rejected. The hydrofoils with more grooves proved to be inefficient compared to those with no grooves. It was believed that applying transverse grooves to the top camber of a hydrofoil would increase cavitations and cause an increase in lift but is now thought that the large number of small cavitations created a less linear fluid flow around the upper camber of the hydrofoil and reduced the efficiency of hydrodynamic lift.
